Yes you can.
The reason is that in ETL mode joins are not real joins (they are not performed on the DB).
However you cannot do that in ELT mode (i.e. with a tELTMap).
In tMap "joined" tables are basically lookups

Can we join data coming from different DB sources using a tJoin or tMap ?
e.g
Data coming from Oracle ====
====tMap or tjoin or any joining component
Data coming from MSSQL====
