Hi Suri,

1) Do we REQUIRE a database set-up for the administrative meta-data of Talend to be persisted OR is there a way this can be done other than databases?

Currently, a database is required for project metadata (users, projects, authorizations, scheduled tasks and so on...) but not items (jobs, business models, metadata, joblets and all what you see in the repository view of your studio).

This week we have been talking during last R&D meeting about a solution based on an embedded database (like SQLite, BDB or HSQL) that would make the storage invisible and reduce the system administration. No decision has been taken yet, it's still under "discussion".

We strongly recommend to use MySQL. Developments are made against MySQL. Before releasing, we check that it also works against SQL Server and Oracle but our customers know that MySQL is our default system. The more we add supported databases, the more we need testing environments, and so on.

Hi,
I have a few questions on the Talend Administration Center application.

Our aim to is to use the SVN for managing projects and jobs ideally. We currently do not have any database management on our end since the idea is to collect data from external data sources and store in a file-system. Having said this:

1) Do we REQUIRE a database set-up for the administrative meta-data of Talend to be persisted OR is there a way this can be done other than databases?
2) If a database is required, could Sybase be used or should be be one of MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle?

Thanks
Suri
