How to create custom action for button

Tags: [action, button, custom]

Hi everyone,

I have a custom component that contains the below properties in Basic Settings.

a).Basic Settings:
1 Property Type: Dropdown with "Built-In" and "Repository".  If repository is selected, the user may select configuration information from the repository.
2 HTTPS: Checkbox - checked by default
3 Host: Text field - default value is "localhost"
4 Port: Text field - default value is "8080", value must be an integer between 0 and 65535
5 Username: Text field - no default value
6 Password: Text field - no default value
7. Test button

b)Advanced Settings:
   1. Directory: Text field - default value is "/sample/api/"
   2. Default Warning Behavior: Dropdown - values are: "Ignore", "Treat as Errors".  Default value is "Treat as Errors"

Problem: I got stuck with the 7.Test button.When I click on the Test button, I have to do a custom action.
For eg:(making a webservice call using the properties given in the basic settings)
I don't know how to create a button with a custom action on that button.

Kindly provide your input.

Re: How to create custom action for button

Resurrecting this old thread.

This is the mentioned button:
    <PARAMETER
      NAME="TNS_EDITOR"
      FIELD="TNS_EDITOR"
      NUM_ROW="23"
      SHOW_IF="(USE_TNS_FILE == 'true') AND (CONNECTION_TYPE != 'ORACLE_RAC')"
    >
    </PARAMETER>

I can't find any information what happens when I click on that button. I'd expect to call a function in a java class. But how to do that?

I'd like to have a button which pops out a small gui that can generate the schema for the  component. I already have the code which generates the XML file that can be imported back into.

I posted my findings into the following topic:
http://www.talendforge.org/forum/viewto … 70#p144770

Basically you need to define an extension in your component, create "EXTERNAL" type fields, and have an extension.
