Absolute Beginner Question (or two)

Hi

I am very new to talend, but looking forward to working with and learning about it.

I have been tasked with testing talend for spatial data integration.
Basically what I hope to acheive is
* load in some data from postgresql
* write a transform script
* send it to an oracle database.

But, as I am so new to talend, I am planning to do some of the tutorials first.
But before that, I DL'd TOS Big Data.
But I think I should have started with TOS Data Integration, so I am currently downloading that.

After working on some simple tutorials, I will install the spatial module, then do some spatial tutorials (I think I saw some somewhere).

My first question is
1 What is the difference between TOS big data and TOS Data Integration?

Secondly
2 Is this the correct path to learn about talend for spatial data
DL TOSDI -> tutorials -> add TOS SDI -> do spatial tutorials -> try to achive my load/transform/load

Thanks for any input and please excuse me for any glaringly obvious mistakes.

Re: Absolute Beginner Question (or two)

For the steps you mentioned above, you should start with TOS.
1) TOS (Talend Open Studio) -> deals with most of the ETL part other than BIG DATA. Whereas TOS BD has been designed to cater the needs of big data, like it has components for HBase, PIG, Sqook mostly  BIG DATA related technology, I am not sure why BD version released seperately same coluld have been merged into TOS probably scarcity of space, clutterness, more heavy tool or scope might have lead to BD version.
2) That is fine.

Get the ball rolling, eventually it will find its path.

Hope that helps
