Gemometry columns in Postgis

We have in our postgis database names for the geom columns other than the_geom (actually "geom"). I had problems to convert these to shape files. It there a workaround?

Re: Gemometry columns in Postgis

Hi Volkmar, this is not supported for the time being. Currently we're using a generic Talend type called 'Object' for having geometry in the flow between components. An 'Object' element with the name 'the_geom' is a Geometry object used by all components. This is fine for Shapefile, MIF/MID, GeoRss input/output components because the geometry column has no name in those format ... but doesn't work for postgis (if column name is not the_geom).

We have an enhancement planned for that bug.

A workaround could be to use database/postgresql/input and output components to create a table renaming geom to the_geom and then run the postgis output component.

HTH.

Re: Gemometry columns in Postgis

Hi Volkmar, I made a fix for that bug which is available in svn/trunk.

If needed, you could update sGeoInput and sPostgisInput components using latest trunk :
https://project.camptocamp.com/svn/c2c_ … omponents/
For the installation, checkout component and copy them into SDI_DIR/plugins/org.talend.designer.components.localprovider_2.2.4.r7943/components/

Outputs component have been updated also in order to create a geometry column not named "the_geom".

Ciao. Francois
